It replaces legacy corporate communication platforms and improves connectivity and efficiency in communicating with employees.
One of the key use cases of LumApps is as a platform for internal communications to create and spread employee news and information. It serves as a one-stop-shop for company news, updates on benefits, and HR-related content. By providing a centralized database for information sharing, LumApps meets the needs of global teams. Another user shares their experience with LumApps: It serves as a document repository, community post platform, and directory. It ensures ease of finding information and resources, improving efficiency. Furthermore, LumApps acts as an intranet site for centralized information such as frequently used links, organizational charts, and company news.
In addition to its role in internal communications, LumApps also supports collaboration and connection among employees. By enabling employees to connect and engage in a digital environment, it bridges geographical gaps within the organization. One user highlights this aspect by saying that LumApps enables employees to connect and engage in a digital environment, bridging geographical gaps. Moreover, the software continuously innovates by integrating with other platforms and providing a customizable interface to enhance the user experience. This flexibility allows companies to tailor LumApps to their specific needs.
Overall, LumApps serves as a comprehensive solution for internal communication, information sharing, and employee engagement. It addresses the problem of scattered information by centralizing it in an accessible and visually appealing format. With its array of features and functionalities, LumApps supports various use cases such as team collaboration, company-wide announcements, resource sharing, and fostering a sense of community among employees.

Analytics limitations: Users have mentioned their dissatisfaction with the analytics side of LumApps. They stated that it does not show user-specific data and finding information on which associates use the intranet the most is difficult. This limitation hinders their ability to gain valuable insights from the platform.
Lack of integration options and out-of-the-box templates: Several users wished for more integration options with files and desired out-of-the-box templates to reduce the need for design assistance. They also expressed a desire for better metrics without relying solely on Google's services, highlighting a need for enhanced flexibility and customization within LumApps.

(1-16 of 16)An Intranet for Everyone
The Scope of the product was to design a website that could be easily used to control information and communication flow across our companies multiple business lines and between our field sites and corporate headquarters. It is now our companies One-Start shop for information, our visible user directory, a company community platform, and home base to connect to all our companies web applications.
- Webpage and Information Management- It's straightforward to navigate and to allow a single source of information to easily be placed in multiple areas of the intranet without creating multiple versions of files. Further it has enabled us to use the same piece of information across business lines without creating multiple copies of a document or webpage.
- Simple webpage design- The program is very easy to use and edit allowing for multiple page owners across different sectors while still being able to managed by a overall by a small team of users. It sacrifices some robustness of customization for simple use which makes it much easier for multiple users to control the information and manage the product as a whole.
- Great User Community and product assistance- The product keeps growing actively and gets better. The company itself is great at communicating with its clients about future roll-outs, initiatives, and updates to their product. They also have a robust knowledge base that is easy to understand and allows for quick answers to questions on how to use the product. Their Customer Service team also works diligently to solve problems with the system and communicates frequently with it's clients if their is a problem to help quickly resolve issues.
- Integration- It has integrations with other products, but they are not always the best. The integrations do not always have the best functionality and are sometimes buggy. It's integrations with Microsoft is good, but it can be improved. It's integration with other products I feel is lacking and could be improved in its presentation.
- Lack of customization- To have ease of use, it does lack customization. It has standard tools, which are great, but going beyond standard is difficult at the easiest to impossible at the worst. Overall I do not mind this because what it offers is robust, but it is a cautionary tale to those more interested in customization over a solid product.
- Calendar Functionality- It does not have great calendar functionality. Setting group shared calendars is difficult and is an area of communication I wish the product would improve.
Less Appropriate- While great at what it does it is still a place to showcase information, not house it. It's not a replacement for Microsoft or Google regarding online file storage. It does not do the storage. It just makes files easy to access if your company houses them already. This same idea applies to Active Directory, it can do a lot of great customization of roles and allow/highlight information for people if they already have great data about people. It is a challenge if the backend data profiles of a person are not already syncing from other systems.
- It offers user-friendly navigation.
- User management is simple once setup correctly.
- It offers many different options for creating posts and articles.
- Search functionality is lacking for groups.
- If you Copy and Paste from other sources, it often leads to undesired results.
New LumApps-based intranet a success
- Simple user interface
- Secure
- Good support
- Documentation could be improved - lots of it but not always easy to find what I need
- Organization and presentation of information
- Integration with Google Workspace
- Ease of adding and updating content
- There is still some room for improvement with navigation, but that might be more about how our sites and pages were developed.
Great tool that is close to being ideal
- Looks good
- Search is great
- Once learned, the editing and management are decent
- Hard to edit and manage for a lay person
- reviewing content you want to send to many before going live is very hard or impossible
- Highlights important news and information
- Integration with Google
- Their client service and support is exceptional
- LumApps provides historical analytics and best practices to help make the right decisions
- Platform needs to be more nimble
- Improved and enhanced analytics
- Better employee groups and easier integration of dynamic list
Lots of promise with the right resources
- host static information
- tagging
- user directory
- slow load times
- lots of bugs (you save changes to a page but then they did not actually save or you update a widget but then something else on the site breaks)
- would like to see analytics (at least log in) by user
Good but ca be better
- News and Articles
- Quicklinks
- Organization Chart
- Polls
- Very tedious and difficult to customize the page in terms of alignment, borders applying graphics
- The domain customization is still missing (the url says sites.lumapps.com/xyz)
- The communities can be better specially adding videos with thumbnails.
- News and articles can be made visually more appealing in terms of effects. (Scroll, bounce, fade, slide, etc)
- Copying and pasting already created page into different section is not possible
LumApps is a central home for over 10,000 employees.
- I can see the page metrics for the pages I create.
- I have the ability to manage content on my own pages fairly easily.
- I can integrate media including images and Google Slides.
- Hard to include video on a page because the video needs a URL.
- It is a little hard to learn but that could be because of the way we have customized the editing tools.
- The search tool doesn't always give good results but that might be because of the way that we have integrated it into our google platforms.
- Offers simple addition of custom content types that give the ability to apply different access and distribution levels.
- The HTML widget allows for the simple removal of WYSIWG tools to simplify the view for content contributors.
- The ability to rearrange layouts is very simple.
- A lot of the documentation is lacking.
- The support is not extremely helpful.
- The settings for many things are not clear.
- There are many tools in the platform that have unclear behavior.
- Templates are not recursive, so when a template is modified the content using that template will not change
- The WYSIWYG editor auto formats HTML which is unhelpful when trying to embed code.
- The notifications are not consistent.
LumApps has its issues, but is a good tool.
- The freedom we have to create pages, how we create them.
- The possibility to adjust the CSS as we want, this makes some things easier for us.
- The way we design pages is not intuitive at all.
- The global widgets could behave like components, for example, if I create a button as a global widget, it could at least be possible to change the label of it, this way we can reuse better this widget.
- Recently we noticed that the search only shows us results of the site's main language, so if I search for content that is in Portuguese and the platform is in English, I couldn't find the content, this is really annoying because we have a lot of content in other languages.
- Adjusting the link of a widget is way better than use the button widget.
- Audience targeting
- Supports multiple languages
- Flexible design & style
- Mobile readiness
- Administration of content and users is limited from reporting and historical logs
- Not easy to move things around on the back-end
- Not easily adaptable as you grow or change direction
Went from 0 - 100 with LumApps
- page-level permissions
- targeting content to specific groups
- creating spaces for information conversations
- previewing pages before publishing
- allowing end-users to control the widgets on their dashboard (e.g. not everyone wants to see an email preview, but it's either on or off for all)
- not letting the company set default notification options before turning them on, or not letting notifications be opt-in at the individual level
An overview on how Lumapps is supporting a collaborative environment for our company
- Support for communities
- Seamless integration with Google Workspace
- Permission control in different levels
- Content creation could be easier
- Notifications by email could be customized with company's brand
A Decent Start, but Room To Grow
- LumApps has strong page design capabilities.
- LumApps Communities make it easy for interest groups to consolidate information in a centralized space.
- LumApps has very good Google integrations.
- Certain features on the back-end admin are very good. Like you can easily manage Roles to provide different levels of capabilities to certain users. You can also easily make content templates for specific teams and make them private to that particular team.
- If you aren't using communities, the aspect of "Following" pages is more of a workaround than a fully baked feature.
- Users are unable to "Follow" other users and elect to get notified when those users create content. Many employees have asked for the ability to receive notifications for any peer, manager, or Executive staff member they choose to follow, and there is not currently a way to enable this.
- Communities are great for quick simple posts, but the editor lacks rich capabilities. For instance, you can't save drafts and copying and pasting removes all formatting. This means you must create your content in the LumApps editor all in one attempt.
- There are some limitations for system administrators on the backend. For example, I can't natively bulk edit content in the back end of the system. I also can't reorganize our metadata hierarchy or even alphabetize our metadata. I have to open a ticket with the vendor for that.
- It can be very slow. Although they are working on that.
- Search could be improved.
Good Intranet solution in Hybrid working pattern now
- Integration with Google Workspace e.g. Google Drive.
- Easy to amend pages and publish.
- Integration with AD for users information e.g. Staff Directory.
- For pages on "Offices", though we have a calendar for each office to show upcoming public holidays, the calendar will disappear if there are no forthcoming entries, making it a bit confusing.
- In the Staff Directory, it is far easier to look at subordinates of staff, but if to look at all the managers and up levels, it needs many clicks to display managers of each level.
- Not very user-friendly for new administrators who will need to maintain and create new pages.
